I am continually shocked
At the lack of acknowledgement
Of the eternal running through
Our nows
As nature shouts it
Every way it can
And life is renewed
Over and over
With the wondrous
Ebullience of creation
And I can’t help but sing
When I see it
Or at least pat the trees
And thank them for their service
Especially during Advent
Let us take the time
To ponder the mystical immensity
In each delicate moment
And give praise

Of leaving our hearts
Beating on the ground
In response
To the offerings of love
That abound

Wonder at the baby
In their manger?
Did the shepherds wonder
At the gift of love
The baby brought them?
Did the wise men ponder
The place of
His humble beginnings?
Who is he
Who would change the world
And claim the word Nativity?

Creating a human
Carrying our God
And becoming mother
To us all

To have a longing
Takes us out of ourselves
Out of our little nit picking lives
And into our dreams
It feels as if our hearts
Are pulled outside our chests
And we can’t help but follow.

In the Christmas message
A singing bell ringing through
And we hear it sounding
From a rustic manger
As the babe is born
Our God is kind

Of every trouble we encounter
We seek God’s help
Every time we hit hard ground
Wondering why God doesn’t answer
We are betrayed
And unheard
But oh the joy
When we finally find Jesus
Here amongst it all
Our God
With us
