Tardis Tuesday blue and online musings

Well here I am again! Howdy!

I realised I was once more in blue in time for Tardis Tuesday, so quickly got Mr Actor to snap a couple of quick poses.

Before I get into that, I've gone and done something crazy...I deactivated my Facebook account...da da dah! (Cue spooky music.)

I realised I was spending too much time being sucked down the rabbit holes of other people's making. And then being depressed by their news driven info and the amount of time wasted. I also would put personal information out there when at a low which I would regret later, even though I was careful of my audience.

I resisted leaving for a while because I was in touch with old friends through this medium. But really I would get a sporadic like of a post but no real interaction. So it was spurious contact. I haven't missed the contact that much and hopefully will connect up with friends properly i.e. email, phone or cafe.

I've noticed how I feel more open to my physical friendships and to engaging in longer deeper ways. I also have more head space to engage with my blogger friends.

Online relating is not all equal I've discovered. Most of it is fast paced and tenuous. It feels more substantial than it is. Someone hitting a like button may have never really looked or read the substance within. Things move on quickly and it is easy to miss your target audience.

Whereas Pinterest and blogging are permanent sites you can return to again and again and engage deeply with the content and the people creating it. Blogging also brings out the creative spark where people create original content rather than just sharing the same news around and around.

I enjoy Instagram for its instant visual impact where I post funny pictures of faces I see in things and promote my blog. I like its cross promotion by tags where you can reach anyone. I have made interesting artistic connections this way.

I also use Google+ for connecting to like minded groups, but my personal page gets minimal response.

So FB is my first casualty. It remains to be seen if the others follow!

Alright enough news. Now to the clothes.

So today for your delectation we have an overgrown haircut, with a felted moth eaten vest of Bushy's I cut down (cut the bands off). So warmmmmm!

Under that is my handmade dress/tunic made from Indian fabric courtesy of a friend.

Under that is my silk dressing gown I made into a tunic by sewing the front together...genius!

The top layer has pockets...can you tell? :-D

And under it all are the secret pettipants, with my lovely Black Milk tights and hard working Rockports.

See you at Tardis Tuesday...and Visible Monday...race you....!

Love,

Jazzy Jack

  3. Hey!!! You're looking amazing in that wonderful garment of TARDIS blue!! I love the massive sleeves!!! They are truly, wonderfully cool.!!
I can understand the leaving of Facebook. I never actually joined but I can imagine it exactly as you describe. I'm sure you won't miss it! Just be sure to keep blogging!!x

  4. The actual making of clothes and the combination of colors, fabric and accessories give satisfaction because they are real, you can touch and smell and feel. You will not regret closing down your facebook account. It sucks up real time and this brings emptiness and dissatisfaction. You are on the right path. Blogging is more slow paced but so much more creative. I like the blue color and the layers. I'm also impressed of the black tights.

  5. Congratulations on freeing yourself from a time sucker that was not giving you joy.
I love what you're wearing. You look great! Your vest is very au courant right now - I see new sweaters in high-end shops with designer moth holes in them. But those holes were never a big deal for me anyway.

  6. I love your dress so so so much. And I'm not even into the whole Tardis thing. In fact, I'm not quite certain what it is except that it has to do with Dr. Who and the color blue. And despite my ignorance of tardis I have never been on Facebook and so far my life is not too terrible so I think you're going to be okay. Did I mention how adorable you look in that dress?

  7. So ...did we really not have Blue until Dr Who (and the BBC) turned up? Maybe not - I understand the ancient Greeks used to call the sky Bronze ...so maybe that wonderful outfit of yours is really from the Bronze Age! Enjoy the Faceless Booking :-)

  8. Gooorgeous blue to create your ensemble with pizzaz! ( No doubt about you said D) Welcome to the Facebookless world. It's a great one! You have something more to say than just froth and bubble as well as creating in words and pictures and fabric. Thanks for sharing your journey. D&M xxxx oooo

  9. The colour is fabulous and the shape rocks!! Tardis blue is the new black.
I like Facebook - I "unfollow" the bores, the ones who constantly whinge about their health and those who forever post annoying memes - they're none the wiser & I'm no longer irritated by them. Blogs rock, can't stand the other two mediums. xxx

  10. What a famous blue - you look so pretty luckily!
Big thanks for the present, what I got yesterday, oh yeah, I have an idea how to use... (later!)

I've looked, what is Tardis Tuesday, but I don't know, who is Dr. Who - maybe I should make outfit posts again...?
Have a good time (without facebook - I've never liked it, it confused me)

  11. Loving you in blue!
I don't mind Facebook but I don't live my life on it - I dip in when it suits me. I much prefer the relationship-building opportunities of blogging, it feels as though it has more depth to it than Instagram. But as with all things, each to their own! xx

I'm Mizz social media beast, must be the Gemini in me (communication and all that).

Big thanks for following along (AND commenting!) in my declutter series.
