Rainbow scarves

Hello my friends. Thanks so much for the lovely comments on my new look blog!
As you will see, the blog isn't the only thing having a makeover.
Check out my new hair! Ta da!!
I'm not sure how I arrived at this post. I have been inspired by Anne of SpyGirl's Pantone colour post, although I was too late for that, and now the current topic is a post influenced by a book or "Reading between the lines" which made me think of this post about stripes, and this post telling the story of a scarf.
I also have been thinking about Sacremento of Mispapelicos's ShareinStyle Scarves which reminded me of two of my posts, waiting for love(the above story of a scarf) and scarf play (where I play making headwraps).
I do a lot with scarves!
I'm also wearing a new dress to me, with beautiful detail around the waist, in a colour very close to the Marsala Pantone Colour of the Year.
I have a lovely book about colour and how all the pigments and dyes were created around the world.

So put all that in the mix and of course out pops a completely new post about colour, specifically rainbows.

(some colours I could have filled with 4 or 5 scarves!)
Red
I've always wanted to go to Switzerland to see what the army does with those wee red knives. Billy Connolly

calls subtly, seductively
and klaxonically shouts
...at the same time
Orange
Life is like a grapefruit. Well, it's sort of orangy-yellow and dimpled on the outside, wet and squidgy in the middle. It's got pips inside, too. Oh, and some people have a half a one for breakfast. So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish

sunburnt country

in the heat
Yellow
Drive, guy. That green light isn't going to get a deeper green. It'll only ripen and turn yellow. Jarod Kintz

how can one colour
be the symbol for happiness
and for cowardice?

Green

I've learnt to gather simplicity from grasshoppers. I like their naïve indecisive minds never knowing exactly when to stop chirping, and I envy their ability to be able to mingle with the green... Munia Khan

my favourite green
is spring green
newborn bouncy elastic green

Blue

I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes. Yves Saint Laurent

sad music
that makes people happy

Indigo (or thereabouts)

His eyes were that colour you can't see in the rainbow. Indigo. Rainbow Rowell, Fangirl

exotically rare
mysterious, magical
and ever so slightly confusing

Violet
Sir Richard, life is a game in which the player must appear ridiculous. Violet Crawley, Downton Abbey

old fashioned name

reminiscent of shrinking,

inflate little violet

you too can be purple!

(Both dress $12 and earrings $8 were thrifted. All scarves thrifted except the green and last violet - retail, and blue - gift. Painting and haircut by me!)

I was feeling triumphant having cut my hair at the right time of the year for once, when the weather turned cold on me. Never mind, a perfect excuse for a colourful head wrap!
PS. taken when I had hair because...lazy! You get the picture:-)

I leave you with the rainbow hues in my colour washed painting of Life.

Enjoy a colourful time until we meet again.

Keep on creating!

Jazzy Jack

Linking to SpyGirl and MisPapelicos.

Come on over and see Anne dressed in a bookish striped scarf, and Sacremento radiant in stripes using Furoshiki to make a bag out of a scarf. How amazing are my friends ...and scarves!!

Update: Linking to StyleCrone to give her a Hat Attack with my scarf hat, and to Monday Mingle looking at Summer.

  2. Some people shut themselves into a grey box for too long. Your blog inspires me to break out of my box and see all the wonderful colours of the world again! Thank you! I'll never look at my scarves the same way again. Always like your hair, any which way, but this looks so easy to dress up. :) :)

I must ask you, after you comment on my blog...what exactly does gender queer mean? I tried to Google it but really got nowhere.

  12. What a fun post! You look sassy and happy in your new hair cut and it really brings focus to your eyes. As you probably know I am obsessed with colour so I was riveted to your images and words. I also kept thinking, that dress is so cute on her! Final two thoughts: I wish I looked like you do in a head wrap. I wish I was good at linking up to share ins like you are.

  14. Interesting, I've been thinking to make a "rainbow" post but featuring not a specific garment but outfits. And here you are with your rainbow-y scarfs! Beautiful post, love all those colours and their short poetic descriptions. Can't imagine myself with such a haircut but on you it looks nice.

  15. Your new hair cut is spectacular! And your post on scarves spoke to me, as I'm a scarf lover too. I adore your headwrap! Thank you for sharing your talent and beauty with Hat Attack.

  16. I love seeing all your scarves! More than the fixed photos though, I love how much fun the process would have been, spinning and fluttering. Cowardice and happiness in one colour - yes, that IS curious. Your haircut looks fantastic, like you're ready for anything.

  17. Hi. I am stopping by from The Hat Attack. I am big fan of the scareves too. And colours... that is big topic for me. I was wearing so long time just black colour. Now I am trying to go out from my comfort zone and wear more colours.o) Thank you for your article, it is interesting. P.S.: Why is burgundy change to marsala? Or it is different colour? I don´t get it.
