Here is an opportunity to air my fairy costume I made to perform in years ago, and the mohair shawl I just finished.
In a reverse spin, here the wicked witch...

See you in the real world, O best beloved...
Ha! Love it! You are magical. I need to go see the rest of the weirdos.....I mean creative types!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stylish fairy! :) I especially like those underneath leggings. And the stripy shawl to keep the fairy warm is simply amazing.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a nice fairy! And I like the intense purple-blue...
ReplyDeleteYou have a lovely blog too, so many beauytful and old things,I'm glad, that have found you and will often visit :-)
(My big old blog for really photos is here http://maschas-buch.blogspot.de/ )
The mohair shawl is magnificent. You have thrown the fairy dust out into the world to enchant us all.
ReplyDeleteYou look like a real good fairy! Lovely, whimsical post! I want to know about the performance for which you made this beautiful costume. You even look like you are on stage - your home is a perfect stage backdrop complete with the red heavy curtain! :)
ReplyDeleteThe shawl is magical and I am sure very cozy, looking forward to see it here often. :) And the leggings! Ohhh!
Soooo good to know that Fairy Tale inspired SO MANY wonderfully talented weirdos like yourself :) - it was my suggestion for topics. I'll try to make my own post on time.
Hugses xxxxx
Thanks! The performance was Iolanthe by Gilbert and Sullivan. I was a fairy flitting hither and thither! Yes, I chose that backdrop because that is where we have performances. It opens into our music room from our loungeroom. Perfect! Thanks for the fairy tale suggestion. I had a few other ideas as well, but decided to keep it simple in the end. Hugs, JJ
DeleteOH I love your fairy dress and now I want one too! The colour is perfect and the sleeves divine!! And your shawl-how wonderful are all those colours! Day of the dead leggings!!!! Where can I get some? We only have boring leggings in my town. I need a better source for leggings.
ReplyDeleteLike Natalia, I want to know what performance you were in as a fairy.
xoxoxo
It was Iolanthe by G&S. I was in the middle of my singing training. I loved making this dress, and the sleeves are my favourite. Although the bag was also fun. We all had to pull out a card at one point. Everyone else pulled theirs out of their bra, but I didn't have enough voluptuousness! So I made a bag :-)
DeleteThe leggings are from Black Milk, an online store in Australia. Desiree from Pull Your Sox Up wears them a lot.
Hugs, JJ
Yes it is true! all of the best fairies have special leggings! your fairy dress is just amazing and made me do *eyes wide open happy face* I love the magic of it all! and your mohair shawl (you are a talented one!) and I even love your theatrical and lush curtains and super fancy arch - real world? what's that? haha! I try and avoid it at all costs! x x x
ReplyDeleteThanks! I invented the wings and made all the fairies' wings. Such fun. This was all pre kids! I really want to live on the stage and never come off, or live in a painting. My decorating reflects this! :-D XO JJ
DeleteI'm still so impressed that you made this. :) It looks so cool.... especially those stockings!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I'm going to have to confiscate that dress immediately because it's purple and flowy and matches my lavender wig ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou look divine, my friend. Brava!

Imagine a shawl for a fairy story out of all those tiny left over bits of wool and you make it sing with your gorgeous self made performance outfit in your own theatre decorated by you ! Are you Cinderella's fairy godmother I wonder...she made things of beauty for her charge ! M xxxx
ReplyDeleteOh definitely! You make me smile. X O J
DeleteWhat a gorgeous dress, for fairies, witches and all those in between. I hope you wear it still. It looks like so much fun. Are the sleeves separate from the dress? It's a very cool design. And color. wow.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's a tad small in the armholes so not super comfortable now. This was made pre kids, about 15 years ago. The sleeves are attached. Little strips of organza attached to the armholes and randomly zigzagged together in places. I made them because I didn't want to show my arms on stage. The others wore sleeveless :-) XO JJ
ReplyDeleteFairytale attire suits the post greatly. I love you added your wild leggings and the fantastic shawl you made. Keep on!
